In fact I’ve been saying that to you over and over on this blog and my other blog at Sowhatsallthebuzz.com. The reason I keep telling you that is because it’s crucial, but what I and most other’s who’ve been telling you the same thing haven’t done is tell you exactly HOW to do that.
The fact is that if you’ve never owned a business, then you really don’t know what to do. So I apologize for my neglect thus far, but now after this post you’ll have no more excuses. So let’s get on with it…
Exact Ways to Treat Your MLM Business Like a True Business…
1) Write Out an Actual Business Plan… One of the things that successful business owners do is begin with the end in mind. Usually that end, in traditional business is by cashing out by selling the business. But in order to sell a business you have to have a little something called a business plan.
Most people want to run to the hills when they hear “business plan” and most people with an MLM home based business don’t think it’s necessary – but it is completely necessary, and you never know… one day you might want to sell your worldwide downline and cash in to live in Hawaii for the rest of your life.
But even more importantly right now it will solidify in your own mind the importance of your business as a business. You’ll begin to take your business much more seriously.
If you don’t know how to write out a business plan there are tons and tons of tutorials online. Just Google “sample business plan” and you’ll find all you need to know.
Maybe in a future post I’ll get into more detail about how to actually write out a good business plan for your MLM home based business.
2) Open a Separate Business Checking Account… A lot of people who start home businesses make the mistake of trying to co-mingle their personal money with money that should be allocated only toward the business.
No traditional business owner would ever think of doing this. There are tons and tons of reasons for having a separate bank account for business purposes, including tax reasons, and just overall bookkeeping. Just as well, it’s much easier to keep track of when and where you’re making a profit or losing money when it’s separated, so you can see the flow of money coming in and out of your account.
But the biggest benefit is the effect that it has on your mindset. It will help establish your business as an actual business in your mind. This will do wonders for how you run your MLM home business…
3) Set up a True Working Schedule… It’s likely that if you’re just starting out that your MLM business is a part-time gig right now. Well do you remember when you got your first part time job flipping burgers or washing dishes…whatever it was that you were doing. Maybe even loading trucks at UPS! Don’t you remember going in every week and looking at the schedule?
That schedule was important for you and so you followed it to the tee. It was either that you got fired right.
Well you need to create a schedule for your own business as well. You need hours of operation. But you being your own head honcho as well as the employee, you also need to take it a step further and go into detail of what you’ll be doing while you’re working.
What is it that they say…if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail?
This is the truth when you run your own business because you’ve got nobody telling you what to do. You’ve got nobody threatening to can your butt if you don’t show up for work at your MLM home based business. So you need to create schedules and deadlines, and try your damndest to stick to them.
Doing these things will help you treat your business like a true business, and get it in your mind that you’re REALLY a business owner!
